Workforce Training

hub19 is a Dubois County community organization focused on workforce development, aiming to build a local talent pipeline by connecting students with employers through career exploration events, internships, hands-on training, and leadership programs. It is a collaboration among the county’s four school districts, Vincennes University–Jasper, Patoka Valley Career and Technical Education Cooperative, and local industry partners to equip students with essential skills and retain them in the regional workforce. Dana Kunz was recently named Director of Workforce Readiness for hub19 and can be contacted at dana.kunz@hub19.org.

The Patoka Valley Career and Technical Cooperative provides CTE courses and technical training to approximately 450 high school students from Dubois, Pike, Spencer, and Perry County.  Programs include Automation and Robotics, Construction Trades, Automotive Technology, CNA, EMT, Human and Social Services, Health Science, Welding, Precision Machining, Aviation, Criminal Justice, and Work Based Learning.  Students earn college credit and earn industry certifications while completing work based learning opportunities with local industry partners.

Vincennes University Jasper Center for Technology, Innovation, and Manufacturing partners with local industry to provide high school and college level internships in Technical Maintenance, Automation, and Construction Trades.  The CAP program offers a work/learn format that provides students the opportunity to earn money and gain real world experience, while completing Technical coursework.  Most students are able to complete the Associates program debt free within a 1-2 year time frame.  To learn more about the CAP program and internship opportunities, contact Director Jacob Berg at 812-639-7604 (email: jberg@vinu.edu).
