Following the COVID-19 pandemic, communities across the country began offering financial incentives to attract new residents, particularly remote workers. These relocation programs have since gained traction, drawing not only remote employees but also families and individuals seeking a fresh start.
The benefits are shared: newcomers get the chance to embrace a different lifestyle, while local economies enjoy the boost of new residents who contribute to and become part of the community.
One such initiative, Choose Southern Indiana, launched in 2021 and has already helped relocate more than 100 people. The program provides up to $5,000 for individuals and families who commit to moving to one of six southern Indiana counties for at least two years, along with additional incentives that make the transition easier.
